CardSnap is a free Chrome extension that generates AI-powered flashcards from text you select on any webpage. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
What data we collect
CardSnap collects minimal data to function:
- Selected text โ text you highlight on a webpage is sent to our server to generate flashcards. It is not stored after processing.
- Email address โ only if you voluntarily sign up for our waitlist on the website.
We do not collect your name, location, browsing history, or any other personal information.
What we don't collect
- We do not track which websites you visit
- We do not store your selected text after flashcards are generated
- We do not sell your data to third parties
- We do not use cookies or tracking pixels
- We do not require you to create an account
Local storage
Your flashcard decks, study progress, and preferences are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. This data never leaves your device and is only accessible by the CardSnap extension.
Third party services
CardSnap uses the following third party services:
- OpenAI โ your selected text is sent to OpenAI's API to generate flashcards. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to this data.
- Vercel โ our backend is hosted on Vercel. No user data is stored on Vercel's servers.
- Mailchimp โ used to manage waitlist email signups on our website only.
Children's privacy
CardSnap does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The extension does not require any personal information to use.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
